The Brain...Discovery

After viewing the video on the many different aspects of the brain, react to the following statements. Please make references from what you learned in the video.

If you had seizures, would you undergo brain surgery? Why or Why not?

Do you think that there will eventually be a brain procedure that will be able to cure manic depression? Why or why not?

Why did the phantom hand cure the man of the pain he felt for an arm that wasn't there?

What do you think about the idea that men and women have different kinds of brains? How is this explianed in the Huinters and Gatherers theory?

I was surprised how much i liked that video. I found it very interesting how they talked about the seizures and the poets who had depression. If I had seizures like that shown in that movie I would no doubt take that surgery. I know I would take that surgery becuase I wouldn't want to have seizures all my life. I found the depression topic the most interesting. I do think in the future there will be brain procedures to cure depression. The Hunter and Gatherer theory section was my least favorite because even though that comidian had many connection to cavemen and our modern time, I think it's one big coincidence.

Yes I would... I wouldn't want to have to deal with seizures and I wouldn't want my parents to deal with it. I think that there will be a brain procedure but not for a while because scientist are doing a lot of research.
It cured him because his brain really thought he had his other hand.
I think that we do have different brains.

............im not sure if i would undergo brain surgery. It would be really scary to get surgery on your brain. yes there iwll be a new procedure for brain surgey in the future because there will be new inventions and such to help. it helped because it would seem like you would have the effects of having a hand. i think the theories with hunters and gatherers and women and men havng different size brains are t.rue

My Medical Emergency, Mary Keenan

One emergency I experienced, was breaking my wrist. It started when I was wearing heals at a soccer game at a park. I tripped over a rope that kept people from driving in the grass. I slammed my wrist into the ground, as I fell and it locked into a bad position. At that moment, it began to hurt so bad, and it felt like there was a really heavy weight stuck to it and I wasn’t able to lift it up. In conclusion, I went to the hospital and I found out it was broken and I needed a cast. I got a blue cast.

I think that it really interesting because scientists show that you can trick your own brain to think that you have something but you actually you don’t have it or kid that have a seizures and have to remove half of the brain and still alive living a normal life. I would be scare of brain surgery because it could will you or making you in to the vegetable.

No, I would not undergo brain surgery. I like having a whole brain and I would find some other means to recover by if I got seizers. I would not seizers in the first place.

Yes I think there may be a cure within the next few decades of centuries considering the emotional feeling o the brain is caused by chemical releases and electrical pulses. We need to figure out a way to counter those chemicals and electrical pulses without damaging of changing anything else in the brain.

The brain feels what in thinks and it thinks based on what it senses through the five known senses. It thinks through a subconscious so even though you know something is going on the brain reacts based on what it knows. The brain remembered that the fist of the mans left arm was still clenched to the brain thought it should send pain waves to the hand to tell the man to unclench his hand because his finger nails were digging in to the mans palm of his had but the brain didn’t know that the arm had been amputated because the nerves didn’t pick up any pain from the amputation. So the man felt pain and the brain needed to think that it had two hands to work out the pain.

I think men and woman do think different ways. I think it’s not just about what are jobs were ten thousand years ago but what our jobs are to keep out species alive and our used to be natural instincts.
